Our offer
German language preparation course
This course is of 1 year (2 semesters) duration and takes place from the 01.03.2008 until the 28.02.2009.
During these 2 semesters we will offer you intensive German language preparation lectures for beginners. At the end of this course you will take an exam (“DSH”) which is a stepping stone for further German university qualifications and makes the students eligible to apply for further studies at university level.
The programme includes 30 lectures per week.
In addition we also offer various cultural and entertainment programmes. It could include trips to major cities or important historical landmarks.
We offer you an individual service and help you to find a suitable accommodation.
Living costs / accommodation
The rent for the accommodation in the Studentenwerk / hostel ranges from 160,- to 210,- Euro monthly per individual accommodation. In addition to the rent, students will also incur some living costs. Depending on ones personal taste the living costs can vary from 300,- Euro onwards.
Fees / finances
The fees for this course amount to 1500,- Euro per semester, provided there are at least 15 students in the group. Depending on the number of students the course fees can fluctuate.
Counselling services
We acknowledge that it may be sometimes difficult for new students abroad. So we make sure that the new students settle down with ease.

Introduction to Wismar
The old hanseatic town of Wismar was founded in the 13th century. Today it is the second largest port in Mecklenburg Vorpommern with 50 000 inhabitants. The city lies in the picturesque setting directly on the Baltic coast in North Germany with many fine and unusual architectonic examples. Some of the streets and place names are reminders that the city was a Swedish possession between 1648 and 1803. The urban skyline is dominated by three imposing medieval brick built cathedrals. The beauty of the city is enhanced by the old harbour and the impressive market square, one of the largest in North Germany. The city has been included in the UNESCO world heritage sites since 2002. It is fringed with fine, carefully restored residences, including the oldest, the “Alter Schwede” and the Wasserkunst”, an ornate fountain. Apart from its lovely charm Wismar has a great deal to offer in its cultural programme as well as varied leisure and shopping facilities invite to visit the city.
Introduction to the University of Wismar
The University of Wismar with its long tradition is a reputed university consisting of three different faculties. At the moment there are more than 4500 students enrolled in the university. This university holds a reputation of having excellent teaching standards. |
