Dear Ms. Wei,
thank you very much for your interest in studying at the University of xx.
For a complete overview of the study opportunities offered by the University of xx (also including a link to our international study programmes) please have a look at the following website:
http://www.zv.uni-xx.de/en/study/angebot/study-programmes.html
Clicking on the individual programmes will reveal their respective entry requirements. Note that we offer some international study programmes, such as the M.A. programmes in British or American Studies, which do not require knowledge of German.
In order to be considered for admission to a German-language master programme, however, you will need proof of German language proficiency level C1 (at the time of enrolment at the latest). The following link will lead you to the relevant information regarding language skills and certificates:
http://www.zv.uni-leipzig.de/fil ... lication_german.pdf
If you want to take preparatory German language classes in Leipzig, It is not possible to start without basic knowledge of the language. You could, however, come to Leipzig to take German-language classes after you have reached German-language proficiency level B1. Having reached this level, you could take six months of German lessons concluding with the DSH test here in Leipzig (please note that a fee of 2000 Euros is charged for the language classes and the following test). Alternatively, you could try and reach German-language proficiency level C1 on your own before coming to the University of Leipzig. In this case, please pay attention to the overview of accepted language certificates provided above. Further information on learning German in Leipzig is available on the following website:
http://www.zv.uni-leipzig.de/en/ ... eparing/german.html
Here you can find the currently valid information regarding the application procedures for master programmes as provided by the International Centre (Akademisches Auslandsamt), including a checklist of required application documents:
http://www.zv.uni-leipzig.de/en/ ... ter-applicants.html
However, please note that the application process for master programmes is about to be basically modified. As of 1 January 2012 applications for (the majority of) master programmes will have to be send via uni-assist. Details will be available online in January.
Please pay attention to the fact that registration for an aptitude test at the respective institute is usually necessary simultaneously (or even earlier in some cases), so also inform yourself about application procedures and deadlines directly at the respective department of the University of Leipzig.
Most master programmes regularly start in the winter term only. Applications for the 2012 winter term can probably be sent from April to May 2012 (via Uni-assist). As far as those programmes starting in the summer term are concerned, application can still be sent until the end of December. Please visit our website regularly for updated application deadlines.
Kind regards,
p.p. Tim Trausch
