Dear XXXX
……
We do have thesis projects that could match your interests.
At this time I cannot yet firmly say whether we will have PhD grant
openings towards the autumn of this year. I will have more information
in the early summer. You might also like to consider applying for a
fellowship of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), contact http://www.daad.de/
……

Dear XXXX
given that the deadline for DAAD applications has already passed,
let me make the following suggestion:
1) We can support the first period of your stay in Munich until
end of December 2006 with a Scholarship under our reasearch grant. So
as soon as you have finished your master's degree (with top grades,
I presume), this is an option to get started. Further reaching
plans cannot yet definitely be made at this time since they depend
on extensions of our research grants.
2) At the same time, please get in contact with the DAAD agency in Beijing
in order to find out about application procedures for 2007. It might be
advisable to prepare such an application while you are still in China.
Looking forward
with best regards
XXXX
